GUEST COMMENTS

“Adagio Cottage was a great find and we will definitely be using it in the near future. A very secluded place in Philly in the woods, how cool is that? The hosts completely let us have the place to ourselves." RC

"Adagio Cottage was quite nice and just what we needed: close to the Germantown neighborhood, close to the activities available at Fairmount Park, with lots of privacy and a pleasant family atmosphere!  We just don’t like hotels and all their hustle-bustle. Thanks for spending the time with us to find just the right place.  We’ll be back! The B&B was very cozy and charming. We loved it and had a very nice time there.” JS

GUEST COMMENTS

"We had a lovely four day weekend at the Allen's Lane B&B. Everything was just lovely...the place, the quiet, the host...we felt immediately comfortable and enjoyed being in a residential neighborhood. We were not new to Philadelphia, and so had a good notion of the neighborhood and its location within the city. It was perfect for our needs. The host is attentive and we enjoyed chatting with him. We will definitely use your services again when next we visit Philadelphia. Thanks for the easy way you help to make accommodations work out. A+"  CR

"Allens Lane was perfect and quaint for our brief visit to attend a Flyers game. The home as well as the entire street was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed the brief walk to the Septa rail in order to get into Philly for dinner before hopping in the subway to get to the game. Our room was comfortable and was set in the rear corner room for nice light. The breakfast was delicious and the host was gracious and available to answer any questions we had. We definitely plan on using your site the next time we visit the area:)"    AO

The Coachman's House

Germantown

The Coachman’s House is part of a larger estate that was built in 1852 and renovated in the 1990s. Tucked away on top of a hill, the property is accessed by a long, winding drive through a park-like 3+ acre oasis in historic Germantown. The current owner recently renovated the two story cottage that once served as the coachman’s home and is adjacent to the former stables.

This suite has its’ own entrance and is tastefully decorated in earth tones. The first floor has a mini kitchen and dining area with a work space nook. Climb the stairs to the second floor which has a queen-size bed and private bath. Looking out the bedroom window, you will feel as if you are in a tree-house. The windows let in lots of light while the many trees provide privacy.

Your hostess currently works in administration in a local school. However, she puts her talents as a former bakery owner to work when stocking the kitchen with breakfast items. For stays of less than a week continental breakfast items are stocked in the kitchen for guests to help themselves to each morning. In warm weather guests may enjoy their breakfast in the lush garden.

Located just 15 minutes from Center City, the Coachman’s House is convenient for visitors who want to be close to the city and yet have a quiet, bucolic place to stay. LaSalle University is less than a mile away. The charming town of Chestnut Hill is also in close proximity. Weekly and monthly rates are available upon request.

GUEST COMMENTS

“It is perfect for us. Private, independent accommodations in a park-like setting...very peaceful...and beautiful breakfast items delivered to the door! I have stayed twice, and look forward to future opportunities when visiting Phila."  JK

"We enjoyed our stay at the Coachman's House--a few highlights include the AMAZING muffins the hostess made each morning; the peaceful woodsey setting (once inside, you had no idea you were in the middle of a city!); and the clean, tastefully decorated suite."  LT

3

The Elkins Park B&B is located in a family neighborhood. The wrap-around porch dates from the 1920s and is couched in Japanese Maples, tall firs and mature rhododendron. Light bathes the first floor through a bank of windows that begin in the living-room and follow the stairwell up to the guest room. The living and dining rooms are spacious with deep window-sills that show the hostess’ sculpture. Breakfast may be enjoyed indoors, or in warmer weather guests can dine in the expansive garden which overlooks the artist’s studio.

On the second floor is the primary guest room. The room has a full-size bed, secretary desk with drawers, bookshelves and two mirrored closets. A pop of color from the attached bath is a contrast to the soothing bedroom wall color. The glass shower is lined with unique purple Italian tiles. The third floor contains two smaller bedrooms, one overlooks the garden and has a full size bed, the other has 2 full size beds. These 2 rooms share a hall bath. All rooms have individual air-conditioners.

The train is only 20 minutes from Center City and continues directly to the Philadelphia International Airport. A Food Coop (including prepared meals) is one block from this accommodation. Three blocks away is Elkins Park Square, home to several good restaurants.

By car, Elkins Park, is 5 minutes from Curtis Arboretum, 10 minutes from the extraordinary Swedenborg Cathedral and grounds, and only 15 minutes from the Morris Arboretum operated by the University of Pennsylvania.

GUEST COMMENTS

"I sincerely enjoyed my stay in Elkins Park-the owners were warm, friendly, and extremely kind and helpful. The accommodations felt like home- very clean and comfortable. The owners were sensitive to my personal space and ensured my privacy The B+B is located within easy walking distance of a health food market and a restaurant as well as the train station (a quick 20 minute ride to center city in comfort). I highly recommend this B+B and its owners.RG

"The hosts were the most kind and loving hosts you could imagine. We came in relatively late (around 8pm) and the hosts let us sit in their stylish and cosy living room filled with their art pieces, with our four daughters, drinking a glass of wine and eating popcorn and have a very cosy time as a family. The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast and very interesting discussions with the owners. As first time tourists in Philadelphia and expats from Europe living some years here in the US it is an experience you hope for. Even though we only stayed there for one night, the hosts gave us a truly unique and wonderful stay and introduction to Philadelphia and we would recommend them highly to any visitors to Philadelphia."  MW
