Equestrian Farmhouse

Phoenixville Area

Located down a country road, this bucolic 5-acre property includes the main house where guests stay, a barn where the owner keeps her horses, and a quaint cottage. This historic home was built in 1773, and the current owner has lived here for almost 20 years. Your hostess, a real estate agent for both residential and commercial properties, specializes in equestrian properties. She has two horses, an Arabian and a Thoroughbred, and boards a third horse.

The updated kitchen is the only contemporary part of this house. Large windows, overlooking the pasture and garden, surround the table where breakfast is served. The hostess prepares a hearty country breakfast each morning. Whenever possible, she uses fresh ingredients from her garden. Off of the kitchen is the living room. This cozy room, with its beamed ceiling and keyhole fireplace, was once the original kitchen. The fireplace is flanked by bookshelves and the comfortable seating in the room encourages one to grab a book and relax in front of the fire

There is a first floor bedroom with a single brass bed and private bath. Lace curtains and pastel walls make this a relaxing oasis. Up the wooden steps is a comfortable second floor bedroom with a 4 poster full-size bed and en suite bath. The recessed windows overlook the surrounding pastures. In the summertime, you will be lulled to sleep by the distance sound of freight trains.

While you have the feeling of being out in the country, guests are just minutes from the bustling town of Phoenixville with its’ vibrant downtown district, numerous restaurants, as well as the Colonial Theatre. Valley Forge Park is just a short drive away and offers trails for biking, hiking and walking. For shoppers, Equestrian Farmhouse is located mid-way between the King of Prussia Mall and the Philadelphia Premium Outlets.

Your hostess has space should you need to board a horse.

GUEST COMMENTS

"I have stayed there twice and will stay again. It is a very peaceful, and comfortable home in a lovely pastoral landscape. The rooms are small, but artistically decorated, and very clean. The overall feel is rustic, and cozy. The breakfasts are delicious, and I enjoyed gazing out upon an idyllic scene while eating. The owner is accommodating and pleasant, and responds to questions and requests professionally and efficiently."  DT

A charming, colonial farmhouse, converted stables and a cottage are all part of this property in the small town of Gladwyne. The home was built in 1826 and retains much of its’ historic character. Hardwood floors, colonial casement windows, wainscoting and multiple fireplaces all remind guests of early Philadelphia.

The current owners spent many happy years raising their family here. The proximity to Philadelphia was important. The stables and riding trails allowed the family to pursue their love of riding without having to live too far from the city.

Your hosts look forward to sharing the serenity of the preserved walking trails accessed from their property. A lovely patio overlooks the garden, and it is the perfect spot for morning coffee. Both guest rooms are on the second
floor. The beds are adorned with heirloom quilts. Lovely windows, hardwood floors with
throw rugs and well-stocked bookcases create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Each room has a private bath.

The hostess will serve afternoon tea upon request. Morning coffee and sweets are provided from the local coffee shop. You are walking distance to the small town of Gladwyne and a 5 minute drive from the Bryn Mawr train station. A 25 minute train ride will take you into downtown Philadelphia. "This is our absolute favorite B&B!  We stay there at least once a year.
The family are like friends to us.  And they have the most incredible
breakfasts I've ever had anywhere!  In all of the years we've been staying
there, I don't think we've eaten the same thing twice." DD
